Genesis 1:31

Genesis 1:31 (NHEB) marks the conclusion of the creation week, stating that God reviewed all His creation—including land animals and humans created on the sixth day—and deemed it "very good". This phrase indicates the perfection, harmony, and completion of the creation before the fall, setting the stage for the seventh day of rest.  Bible.com Key Aspects of Genesis 1:31: "Very Good": Unlike previous days where creation was termed "good," the completion of all things, particularly humankind, is described as "very good," highlighting perfection and harmony. Total Assessment: The verse emphasizes that God saw everything He made, not just individual components, confirming it was exactly as He intended. Sequence: The creation of humanity was the final act, distinguishing them from the rest of t...

Genesis 1:1-2

Genesis 1:1-2 describes the initial act of creation, where God creates the heavens and the earth, which are initially formless, void, and dark. The Spirit of God is depicted hovering over the waters. Divine Action: God ("Elohim") initiates creation, with the Spirit "hovering" or "moving" over the waters. Isaac and Ishmael family

Yes, based on the Bible (specifically Genesis 28:9 and 36:3), a child of Ishmael married a child of Isaac.   Esau  (son of Isaac and Rebekah) married his cousin  Mahalath  (also named Basemath), who was the daughter of  Ishmael . Esau took this wife in addition to his Canaanite wives after realizing his parents did not approve of his previous marriages. Mahalath was also the sister of Nebaioth, one of Ishmael's twelve sons.   This marriage established a familial connection between the descendants of Isaac (the covenant line) and the descendants of Ishmael.

What happened to Ishamel after that

After being sent away with his mother Hagar (around age 14–17), Ishmael lived in the wilderness of Paran, became a skilled archer, and married an Egyptian woman, as noted in  Genesis 21:8–34   and   this article from Christian Courier . He became the father of 12 princes, fulfilling the prophecy that he would be the founder of a great nation. He later reconciled with Isaac to bury their father, Abraham, and   died at age 137 .   Key events after Ishmael was sent away include: Life in the Wilderness:  He grew up in the desert of Paran, becoming a skilled hunter and expert archer. Family:  He married an Egyptian woman as chosen by his mother. Descendants:  He became the father of 12 sons, who were leaders of their tribes, and one known daughter, Mahalath, who married Esau. Reunion with Isaac:  At age 89, he helped his brother Isaac bury their father, Abraham, in the cave of Machpelah. Death:  He lived a total of 137 years, and accor...

Why God rejected Ishmael

God instructed Abraham to send Ishmael and Hagar away primarily because  Ishmael was not the "child of promise" through whom the covenant line was to continue, with Isaac designated as the true heir . This separation was necessary to prevent conflict over inheritance, resolve familial tension caused by Ishmael's behavior toward Isaac, and honor God's plan for Abraham's lineage.   Key Reasons for Sending Ishmael Away: The Covenant Line:  God promised that Abraham's descendants would be reckoned through Isaac, not Ishmael. Ishmael was the result of human effort to fulfill a promise, rather than waiting on God. Protection of the Inheritance:  Sarah demanded their removal because she feared Ishmael would share the inheritance with her son, Isaac. God affirmed this, stating that Isaac was the chosen heir. Sibling Strife:  Sarah saw Ishmael mocking or mistreating Isaac, creating a hostile environment that necessitated separation. Fulfillment of Divine Plan:  The ...

Ishamel in Jeremiah Book

Based on the biblical account in Jeremiah 40-41,  Ishmael (son of Nethaniah) , a member of the royal family of Judah, committed several serious sins and crimes following the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonians.   His actions are characterized by treachery, mass murder, and rebellion against God-ordained authority.   Key Sins and Crimes of Ishmael (Son of Nethaniah) The Murder of Gedaliah (Treason):  After the Babylonians appointed Gedaliah as governor over the remaining people in Judah, Ishmael conspired against him. Ishmael and his men went to Mizpah and, while dining with Gedaliah, murdered him, his entourage, and the Babylonian soldiers present. Massacre of Innocent Pilgrims:  The day after murdering the governor, Ishmael encountered 80 men coming from Shechem, Shiloh, and Samaria to bring offerings to the house of the Lord. He tricked them into coming to him, then murdered 70 of them and threw their bodies into a cistern. Kidnapping and Hostage-Takin...

Gods covenant with Isaac and Ishmael

God establishes His everlasting covenant specifically through Isaac, not Ishmael, in  Genesis 17:19-21 , declaring, "But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you". While God blesses Ishmael to be a great nation (Gen. 17:20), the covenant promises of land, descendants, and the messianic line are passed exclusively to Isaac, a distinction confirmed in Genesis 21:12 and reinforced in the New Testament (Romans 9:7-9).   Based on Genesis 17:19-21,  God established His everlasting covenant specifically through Isaac, the son of Abraham and Sarah , rather than Ishmael. While Ishmael was blessed and made into a great nation, God stated the covenant, including the promised land and the lineage of the Messiah, would pass through Isaac.   Key Aspects of the Covenant Distinction: The Covenant Promise:  God explicitly told Abraham, "I will establish my covenant with [Isaac], which Sarah shall bear unto thee" (Genesis 17:21). Isaac as the "Child ...
