What happened to Ishamel after that

After being sent away with his mother Hagar (around age 14–17), Ishmael lived in the wilderness of Paran, became a skilled archer, and married an Egyptian woman, as noted in

Genesis 21:8–34 and this article from Christian Courier. He became the father of 12 princes, fulfilling the prophecy that he would be the founder of a great nation. He later reconciled with Isaac to bury their father, Abraham, and died at age 137.

Key events after Ishmael was sent away include:
  • Life in the Wilderness: He grew up in the desert of Paran, becoming a skilled hunter and expert archer.
  • Family: He married an Egyptian woman as chosen by his mother.
  • Descendants: He became the father of 12 sons, who were leaders of their tribes, and one known daughter, Mahalath, who married Esau.
  • Reunion with Isaac: At age 89, he helped his brother Isaac bury their father, Abraham, in the cave of Machpelah.
  • Death: He lived a total of 137 years, and according to tradition, he is buried in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
  • Legacy: His descendants, the Ishmaelites, inhabited the region between Havilah and Shur, near the Egyptian border.
