Things We Know

 There is one God, the maker of heaven and earth. Jesus is his Son sent to earth to pay for the sins of people who cannot pay for them themselves. God did this out of love for people. Believers fear God in the sense of respecting his awesome power and wisdom, not out of fear of what he will do to us.


Satan is in a power struggle to control the world. When God raised his Son from the dead, Satan had effectively lost, but the battle continues to play out. People are on one side or the other—not both. Christians know that they are on God’s side. Many unbelievers do not realize they are on Satan’s side.

When the Holy Spirit lives in us, the devil cannot control us. We resist him by praying in Jesus’ name. He is the one with the power, not us.

James 4:7. Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Jesus is a real person living in heaven right now. We get to know him by reading the Bible—especially the gospels—and praying. The Bible is very clear: if we have accepted Jesus as our Savior, we will go to heaven. It is not a feeling, it is a fact. It is not necessary to do miracles or other wonderful deeds to prove your Christianity. It is necessary to be faithful.
