Bible figure without mother

 

Several figures in the Bible grew up without a mother or are described as having no recorded mother.

 

• Esther: The Book of Esther (2:7) explicitly states that she had "neither father nor mother" and was raised by her cousin, Mordecai.
• Melchizedek: Described in Hebrews 7:3 (KJV) as "without father, without mother, without descent," this is generally interpreted by scholars to mean his parentage and genealogy were not recorded, making him a figure "like unto the Son of God".
• Adam and Eve: As the first humans created directly by God, they had no mother.
• Joseph (son of Jacob): While he had a mother (Rachel) at birth, she died while giving birth to his younger brother, Benjamin, meaning Joseph grew up in his father’s household without his mother. 

Additionally, while not growing up without a mother, Moseswas raised by Pharaoh's daughter after his own mother placed him in a basket to save him from death, meaning he spent his formative years away from his birth mother.
