Discernment of Gods guidance

 Here is the outline of an article called " Discerning the Voice of the Lord."

  1. You must be neutral as far as self-will is concerned. You need an attitude of "not my will but thine."
  2. Know the truth. Get a good working knowledge of the Bible. God does not say one thing in the Bible and then tell you to do something else.
  3. God is able to guide you. Do not strain over every little decision. He is more able to speak and cause you to hear than you realize.
  4. If there is no definite word, wait. You will not miss anything by waiting.
  5. The Holy Spirit goes only in one direction. He does not change his mind. He will persist until you obey.
  6. God does not demand. He will give you time to consider until you are fully persuaded.
  7. Look for Providence. God clears the way and removes obstacles and opens doors. He will confirm or stop you.
