God rejected tent of Joseph

God "rejected the tent of Joseph and did not choose the tribe of Ephraim," instead choosing the tribe of Judah and Mount Zion (Psalm 78:68), highlighting a shift in divine favor from the northern tribes (represented by Joseph/Ephraim) to the southern kingdom (Judah) as a consequence of their unfaithfulness, eventually leading to David's selection as king.

Joseph's Tabernacle" (or Tent of Joseph) refers to the dwelling place or sanctuary associated with Joseph's descendants(Ephraim & Manasseh) in the Bible, often contrasted with Judah, signifying a spiritual or geographical focus, with "tabernacle" meaning "dwelling place" (Hebrew: mishkan) where God met His people, ultimately pointing to Jesus. It signifies God's presence among Israel but also implies a temporary or less central location than the eventual Davidic/Temple focus in Judah, according to prophecies like Psalm 78:67.

God didn't fully reject the descendants of Joseph (Ephraim and Manasseh) but shifted the spiritual and political center from their territory (Shiloh) to Judah due to 

Ephraim's persistent idolatry, disobedience, pride, and failure to fully conquer Canaan, which contrasted with the prophetic lineage of David and the Messiah promised through Judah, culminating in God's choice of Zion for the Temple. 

Reasons for the Shift from Joseph (Ephraim) to Judah:

• Idolatry & Spiritual Failure: Ephraim became heavily involved in idol worship (Hosea 4:17) and failed to drive out the Canaanites, adopting pagan practices.
• Disobedience & Arrogance: The tribe showed pride, quarreled with other tribes (like Gideon and Jephthah), and didn't fully obey God's commands, despite having prominent leaders like Joshua.
• Rejection of Shiloh: The tabernacle, once located at Shiloh (in Ephraim's territory), was rejected due to the people's wickedness, as prophesied in Jeremiah 7:12.
• Prophetic Choice of Judah: God chose Judah for the lineage of King David and the Messiah (Genesis 49:10; 2 Samuel 7:12-16), making Jerusalem (Mount Zion) the spiritual center. 

What this Means:

• Conditional Blessing: God values obedience over pedigree, and initial blessings don't guarantee continued faithfulness (Deuteronomy 12).
• Shift in Focus: The rejection of the "tent of Joseph" wasn't a total disinheritance but a redirection of the primary worship and royal line toward Judah, fulfilling God's larger redemptive plan centered on Christ.
