Nahum Zephaniah Habakkuk

Nahum, Zephaniah, and Habakkuk were all prophets of the Southern Kingdom of Judah, operating after the Northern Kingdom's fall and before Judah's Babylonian exile, focusing on Judah's internal corruption and impending divine judgment through foreign empires like Assyria and Babylon.

  • Nahum: Prophesied about the destruction of the Assyrian capital, Nineveh, comforting Judah.
  • Zephaniah: Warned of a coming "Day of the Lord" bringing judgment on Judah and surrounding nations.
  • Habakkuk: Questioned God about allowing wicked Babylon to punish Judah, ultimately learning to trust God's justice.
These prophets are grouped because they ministered during the same tumultuous period (around 7th century BC) when Judah faced escalating threats, with God using foreign powers to bring judgment, according to this Bible Project article.
