Shechem was a significant ancient Canaanite city in the Bible, located between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim, known as a place of divine promise, covenant, and conflict, where Abraham first received God's land promise, Jacob's sons avenged Dinah's defilement, Joseph's bones were buried, Joshua renewed the covenant, and it briefly became capital for Israel's divided kingdom, later associated with Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at Jacob's Well.

  • Abraham's Promise (Genesis 12): God appeared to Abram at the "great tree of Moreh" in Shechem, confirming His promise of the land.
