Jehoiada

Jehoiada was a prominent High Priest in the Kingdom of Judah during the reigns of Ahaziah, Queen Athaliah, and Joash (9th century BC)

. He is best known for his courageous role in protecting the royal line of David, overthrowing the usurper Queen Athaliah, and guiding King Joash in restoring the worship of Yahweh. 

Key Aspects of Jehoiada's Life and Actions:

• Saving the Heir: When Queen Athaliah murdered the royal family to seize the throne, Jehoiada and his wife, Jehosheba, hid the infant prince Joash in the Temple for six years.
• Restoring the Monarchy: In the seventh year, Jehoiada organized a revolt, executed Athaliah, and crowned Joash as the rightful king.
• Religious Reformation: He established a covenant between the Lord, the king, and the people, leading them to destroy the temple of Baal and restore temple services.
• Wise Advisor: Under Jehoiada's guidance, King Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.
• Death and Honor: Jehoiada died at the age of 130 and was buried in the City of David among the kings, an exceptional honor for a priest, "because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and toward his house" (2 Chronicles 24:16). 

Biblical Context:
His story is primarily found in 2 Kings 11–12 and 2 Chronicles 22–24. He is characterized as a faithful, wise, and courageous leader, and often serves as a model of godly influence. 

Note: There are other biblical figures named Jehoiada, including the father of Benaiah (one of King David's mighty men).
