Moses Tribe of Levi

 

According to the Bible (Exodus 2:1-10), Moses was from the 

Hebrew tribe of Levi. His parents, Amram and Jochebed, were both descendants of Levi, the third son of Jacob and Leah. Moses was a Levite, and his brother Aaron was later established as the first High Priest, leading the Levites to become the priestly class. 

• Lineage: Moses was the son of Amram and Jochebed, both of the tribe of Levi.
• Significance: While born a Levite, Moses was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter and raised as an Egyptian prince.
• Tribal Role: The Tribe of Levi was designated as the priestly tribe, not inheriting a specific portion of land but rather overseeing religious rituals. 

He had an older brother, Aaron, and an older sister, Miriam, who were also Levites. 

Moses' father was Amram, a Levite who was the son of Kohath and husband to Jochebed. He is described in the Book of Exodus as the father of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, though he appears primarily as a figure in genealogical lists rather than a character with a detailed narrative.

Moses' father was Amram, a Levite who married Jochebed. His paternal grandfather was Kohath (or Kehath), who was the son of Levi. Therefore, Moses was a second-generation Levite, with Kohath being the direct father of Amram.
