Persian and Assyrian

 No, Persians are not Assyrian

. They are distinct ethnic groups with different languages, origins, and cultures. While Assyriansare an indigenous, mostly Christian, Aramaic-speaking people from Mesopotamia, Persians are an Indo-Iranian people from the Iranian plateau. However, Assyrians have historically lived in Iran (as Iranian Assyrians).

• Ethnic Identity: Assyrians are a distinct ethnic group with roots in ancient Assyria (modern Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Iran). Persians are the main ethnic group of Iran.
• Language: Assyrians speak Neo-Aramaic, a Semitic language, whereas Persians speak Persian (Farsi), an Indo-European language.
• History: The Persian Empire (Achaemenid Empire) actually conquered the remnants of the Neo-Assyrian Empire in the 6th century BC.
• Modern Context: Today, there is a minority population of Assyrians in Iran, particularly in Urmia and Tehran, who are Iranian citizens but ethnically Assyrian. 

The two groups have overlapped geographically for thousands of years, but they remain ethnically and linguistically separate.
