The Quran 10.94 Read The Bible

Surah Yunus (10:94) advises that if there is doubt regarding the revelations,

one should ask those who read the scriptures before (the People of the Book—Jews and Christians), as the truth has been sent from the Lord. This verse emphasizes seeking knowledge from knowledgeable predecessors to confirm the authenticity of the Quranic message.

  • Context of 10:94: The verse directs Prophet Muhammad (and by extension, skeptics) to consult individuals familiar with previous scriptures (Torah/Gospel), which contain prophecies or confirmations of the Quran's truth.
  • Purpose: The aim is to remove doubt and reaffirm that the message aligns with previous revelations.
  • "People of Knowledge": Similar guidance is found in Surah Al-Anbya (21:7), which advises asking "people of knowledge" if one does not know.
  • Addressing Doubt: It is advised to seek knowledge to clarify doubts rather than letting them fester, which can strengthen faith through evidence.
Some interpretations emphasize that this does not imply the Bible is uncorrupted today, but rather that the scholars of that time could testify to the truth revealed to Muhammad.
