Worship Him

Matthew 2:2, in the context of the Magi’s visit, records their question: “

Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him”. This verse highlights the Magi recognizing a special star indicating a new, significant king's birth, prompting their journey to honor him.

Key Aspects of Matthew 2:2:
  • The Question: The Magi (wise men or astrologers) seek the "newborn king of the Jews," a title that disturbs King Herod.
  • The Star: They observed a celestial sign in the east, which they interpreted as a sign of the birth of a special king.
  • The Purpose: The primary purpose of their long journey was to worship or pay homage to this child.
  • Context: This occurs shortly after Jesus' birth in Bethlehem during the reign of King Herod.
This verse highlights the inclusion of Gentiles (the Magi) in recognizing the significance of Jesus' birth.
