God is good

First, we have to define good the way Jesus does: only God is good.

Mark 10:18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered.”No one is good—except God alone.”
Romans 3:10+11. “None is righteous, no not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God.”



So no good people go to hell. Some people are better than others, but all are sinners.

Second, what does it take to go to heaven? Wholeheartedly believing that you are a sinner deserving of hell and turning to Jesus, accepting his death on the cross as payment for your sins. It involves being sorry for your lifestyle, realizing it is not worthy of heaven, and turning to God to try to live a life pleasing to him.

Romans 10:10. For it is believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

Just saying a prayer does nothing unless there is a change in your heart, so there are no monsters in heaven—maybe some former monsters.

Yes, our actions may prove we love him because we have freely been given grace and we have actions in obedience out of love for him.

I agree, addictions can be hard and God sometimes allows us to struggle. I think he wants to see if we will stay with it. “Despise not the small beginnings” Zechariah 4:10
