The Way is Jesus
First, I would like to comment on the message in your last writings : one idol disqualifies you from heaven. I think there is a difference between an idol and sin. Sin is a temporary slide into self indulgence, pride, gluttony or something like that. We realize we were wrong, ask God for forgiveness and he forgives. An idol is the functional god in your life. It is the bottom line most important thing in your life. You are willing to lie, cheat, or steal to serve this idol. It could be money, status, sex, self, or something like that. If you are wondering what you might idolize in your life, slowly mention different things and when your body reacts in some way—that’s it.
Do you realize that everyone is evil inGod’s eyes? “There is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10. God does not grade evil. He says that you missed the mark and never says by how much. Paul claims to be the chief sinner because he killed Christians (1Timothy 1:15). Romans 5:8 But while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He knows and understands everything done to you and he accepts you completely. It doesnt’t say, except so and so.
Now, why do bad things happen? This is Hard to understand. In Genesis God cursed man, woman and the earth. Nothing works right. The earth has earthquakes, hurricanes and drought. Man works hard, sometimes with no result. Woman chaffs at her limitations. In their desire to get ahead, they sin. They sin in their desire for pleasure. This is what happened to you. Why did God allow it? He gave man free will which includes the ability to be wrong and do evil things. Why doesn’t he zap them into hell immediately? Because we all do sinful things and we’d all be in hell. He gives people time to repent. People like you who have turned from sinful ways to seek God. That is a gracious act you should be thankful for. Some people never repent and there is a judgment day awaiting them and punishment beyond anything they expect. Someone has said that God rewards lavishly and punishes viciously. Let’s stay on the rewards side..
