To do not just to Know

Reading the Bible is a good thing to do, an important thing to do; but reading it does not save anyone. Believing what it teaches saves us. Paul wrote to Timothy “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”(2 Timothy 3:16-17) So read the Bible to learn about God. That is a good first step.


Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.


That path is the road to salvation. I could read books on heart surgery and explain to you how to do it, but I am not a surgeon and could never operate on anyone myself.


Not all people who say they are Christians are really Christians. A true Christian will show his faith by how he lives.


Your last paragraph beginning “yes there are people who read the Bible…..” is right. If we have tender hearts toward God, he will teach and guide us, but if we continually harden our hearts to him, he will leave us alone.
