Dr. Andrew

 Hi Dini,

First of all, yes, you certainly may call me Sunny. I agree it is not a common name.

Next, the matter of sin in a Christian. When Jesus saves us, he gives us a new nature with the ability to obey him. The old sinful nature is still there, though we want to turn from it. God loves our choice—when we choose to obey him. Romans 6:14 says that sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. An unsaved person is a slave to sin and cannot escape it, but we have a choice. Romans 6:15 goes on to say , “What then, Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be.” In other words, you cannot say that you can sin because God will forgive you. You cannot play games with God like that, so there is no permission to sin, only the constant attempt to obey, realizing that we may fail sometimes. God forgives a repentant heart. As we draw closer to God, obedience becomes easier as we see the peace that comes from right choices.

I am glad that you say you don’t always agree with Dr. Andrew or me. That means that you are thinking things through for yourself. You must always check the Bible to make sure that whatever someone tells you agrees with the Word.

I welcome your comments and questions.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
