It would be amazing to me if you did not have personal issues, a lack of the ability to give and receive love, a sense of self worth and the confidence to face life’s challenges. From what you have told me of your childhood, no one expressed care for you in a way you could understand as love.

Giving money is sometimes the only way a person can express love. My grandmother often gave me sizable amounts of money. I think if she had ever kissed me, I would have feinted dead away. It is an insufficient expression of love. Sex outside a loving covenant relationship of marriage is merely a transaction to gain personal enjoyment without regard for the other person’s needs. Without the teaching of life and its ways, how could you develop the confidence to overcome the difficulties we all face?

But God is not content to leave you there. He is willing to work with you to give you a life of meaning and purpose. You need to get off the gerbil wheel going round and round on a non existent path. God invites you to ask him for guidance. He does not offer ideas for you to think over and accept or reject deciding to do what you want. That’s one reason you are where you are.

There are some constants. God loves you. John 16:27. For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. He does not change his mind just because you are having a bad day. He can tell whose heart is his and who is just performing to look good. That’s why he can tell some to go away, he never knew them. He always forgives a repentant heart. Look at Peter who swore he never knew Jesus in his greatest hour of need and yet Jesus forgave his broken heart and made him one of the greatest of early church leaders. He knows you have never had a father in a meaningful sense. God is prepared to be your Father. He will provide others who care about you as you follow his ways.

So, what do you need to do? Pray in order to make wise choices.

1. What can you do to support yourself? What are your interests and abilities? ( Don’t tell me you don’t have any.)

2. What do you need to stop doing that has kept you from a successful life? If you spend money on foolish things, stay off the internet shopping sites and out of stores.

3: what change in your daily routine will help you live a more productive life?

As someone has said, “God don’t make junk!” so no more thinking that your life is not worth living. Don’t insult him!
